Shin Hye Sung's Agency Releases Official Statement Regarding His Arrest For Drunk Driving

Shin Hye Sung’s agency has released an official statement regarding the singer’s arrest on the suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

On the morning of October 11, Shinhwa’s Shin Hye Sung was arrested on the charges of refusing to take a breathalyzer test at Tancheon 2-gyo bridge in Songpa district of Seoul.

That morning, police received a report that traffic was stopped in the middle of the road and arrived to find Shin Hye Sung asleep in a car. They ordered he take a breathalyzer test, but he refused. Additionally, the vehicle Shin Hye Sung was driving at the time had been reported as stolen.

In response to the reports, Shin Hye Sung’s company Liveworks Company issued the following statement:

Hello, this is Liveworks Company.

We would first like to inform you of the company’s findings thus far in regards to the drunk driving incident involving Shin Hye Sung, which occurred earlier this morning.

Shin Hye Sung had a meeting at a restaurant in Gangnam district with acquaintances at around 11 p.m. on October 10, upon after which he left for home after having consumed alcohol and obtaining the key to a vehicle from the valet attendant. On his way home, he fell asleep while stopped on the road, refused to take the breathalyzer test ordered by the dispatched police, and was arrested.

There is no excuse for Shin Hye Sung’s behavior in driving under the influence as well as driving without knowing the vehicle was not his. We are deeply apologetic to everyone.
