BLACKPINK, BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT, TWICE, And ITZY Nominated For 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) has officially announced this year’s nominees!

BLACKPINK has become the first K-pop artist ever to be nominated for Best Video this year. The group’s music video for their hit single “Pink Venom” will be going up against Harry Styles’s “As It Was,” Doja Cat’s “Woman,” Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5,” Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl,” and Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version).” The winner of the award is chosen solely by MTV, meaning that there is no fan vote for the category.

Including Best Video, BLACKPINK earned a total of four nominations this year: the group has also been nominated for Biggest Fans, Best Metaverse Performance (for their PUBG Mobile in-game concert “The Virtual”), and Best K-Pop.

Meanwhile, both BTS and SEVENTEEN snagged a total of three nominations each. BTS has been nominated for Biggest Fans, Best Metaverse Performance (for their “Butter” and “Permission to Dance” Minecraft concert), and Best K-Pop; SEVENTEEN is in the running for Best New, Best Push, and Best K-Pop.

TXT has also been nominated for Best Asia Act as Korea’s sole representative in the category.

Finally, this year’s nominees for Best K-Pop are BLACKPINK, BTS, ITZY, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, and BLACKPINK’s Lisa—who earned her own solo nomination in addition to being nominated as a member of BLACKPINK.

The 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards will air live from Düsseldorf, Germany on November 13, and voting is open on their official website here until November 9 at 11:59 p.m. CET.
