According To K-Dramas: 5 Characteristics That Make The Perfect Boyfriend

If you’re an avid K-drama fan, you know that many K-dramas have a formula. Sometimes it’s not hard to accurately guess the plot and ending. Perfect K-drama boyfriends are no different. There are common characteristics in characters that appear in countless shows, and depending on the viewer, you might love it or hate it. Here’s a look at some of the most popular characteristics that make the perfect K-drama boyfriend these days.

A cold and hot personality

The term “tsundere” is widely used when describing the personality of many male leads in K-dramas. This type of boyfriend appears completely reserved, cold, and often mean in the early episodes, but he slowly warms up to his love interest. Viewers witness a dramatic evolution over the course of 16 or more episodes. This kind of character is someone who appears unlikable at first that you can’t imagine anyone loving them. They can be infuriating!

In “A Love So Beautiful,” Cha Heon (Kim Yo Han) has the most frigid personality. Despite his classmate and next door neighbor Shin Sol Yi (So Ju Yeon) showing him kindness and confessing her feelings for him, nothing seems to move his heart. His progression toward devotion for his leading lady is gradual, but his small portion of love has always been there. “A Love So Beautiful,” which is a remake of the C-drama of the same name, illustrates a puppy love romance between two teenagers with polar opposite personalities. You’ll be able to witness how a relationship grows from the aftermath of a failed love confession.

Amnesia

If the perfect boyfriend doesn’t lose part of his memory, then you are not watching a typical K-drama! The convenience of amnesia allows viewers to witness the K-drama boyfriend falling in love with the female lead all over again. They can’t control who their heart responds to.

Young Lady and Gentleman” gives a great example of following your heart. Wealthy CEO Young Guk (Ji Hyun Woo) falls hopelessly in love with his children’s live-in tutor Dan Dan (Lee Se Hee). Unfortunately, he suffers amnesia in the series that completely wipes out his memory of her. Young Guk’s memory doesn’t hinder his heart’s response to Dan Dan and his strong interest in her. His love transcends everything. The drama also focuses on the widower repairing his relationship with his children with the help of Dan Dan who initiates the restoration.

In “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty,” college student Kang Mi Rae (Im Soo Hyang) decides to get plastic surgery to combat the bullying she received as a child. In “Today’s Webtoon,” Goo Jun Young (Nam Yoon Su) is a great illustration of this type of K-drama boyfriend. “Today’s Webtoon” outlines the lives of webtoon artists and a team that professionally produces their work. Jun Young joins Neon’s webtoon department on a secret mission, but everyone is clueless that he is a spy, even his future crush On Ma Eum (Kim Sejeong)!
