A cold and hot personality
The term “tsundere” is widely used when describing the personality of many male leads in K-dramas. This type of boyfriend appears completely reserved, cold, and often mean in the early episodes, but he slowly warms up to his love interest. Viewers witness a dramatic evolution over the course of 16 or more episodes. This kind of character is someone who appears unlikable at first that you can’t imagine anyone loving them. They can be infuriating!
In “A Love So Beautiful,” Cha Heon (Kim Yo Han) has the most frigid personality. Best friend forever
The perfect K-drama boyfriend is a lover and the best friend anyone could ever imagine. He is a great listener, a strong shoulder to cry on, and is judgement free. He is a best friend forever! No one can ever replace this type of person in a character’s life.
In “XX,” perfumer Hwang Jung Deun (Lee Jong Won) is mending a broken heart as a result of his ex-boyfriend. However, that doesn’t stop him from being the best friend to bartender Yoon Na Na (EXID’s Hani) even as she relives her dark past after reuniting with a former best friend. He listens, encourages her, and even lovingly reprimands her. Hwang Jung Deun is one of those good guys who deserves a second chance at love.

Secret identity
The very best K-dramas have boyfriends with identities that no one knows anything about. They hide a secret agenda from those closest to them and possibly live double lives. Viewers never know when their secret will be revealed, but at least they will always have their lover’s eventual forgiveness.
