In the first match-up of Round 2, Little Match Boy took the stage with a mellifluous cover of Monday Kiz’s “White Snow.”

After watching his performance, the panelists took turns trying to figure out who Little Match Boy might be. Lee Yoon Seok wondered if Little Match Boy was a talented sub-vocalist in a vocal group, while 2AM’s Jeong Jinwoon noted, “Little Match Boy has a singing style that was used a lot by male idols between 2010 and 2014. So I wondered if he might be a [fellow idol] that promoted at the same time that I did [with 2AM].”

Meanwhile, GREE guessed that Little Match Boy was a member of iKON, leading 2NE1’s Sandara Park to wonder out loud, “[Could it be] Jinhwan?”

However, although the audience was charmed by Little Match Boy’s gentle tone, his opponent ultimately won the round—leaving him behind to take off his mask and reveal that he was Jaeyun, the leader and main vocalist of boy group TO1 (formerly known as TOO).

Jaeyun then shared that his goal for his appearance on “The King of Mask Singer” had been to get yelled at by Kim Gura.

“Ever since I was little, I grew up watching many of Kim Gura’s TV shows,” explained Jaeyun, “and I always felt that there was a certain warmth hidden in the way he yells at people. So I wanted to experience that warmth for myself.”

After the episode aired, Jaeyun posted a mirror selfie of himself backstage with his mask on TO1’s official Twitter account.
