Watch: 30 Girl Group Members Compete For A Place To Debut In Virtual Group On

The new survival program “GIRL’S RE:VERSE” finally released its first teaser!

“GIRL’S RE:VERSE” is a virtual idol survival show where 30 real-life K-pop girl group members compete to debut in a virtual world. The contestants will hide their names, faces, and real-world identities and compete as new virtual characters. Those chosen for the final lineup will debut as a virtual idol girl group and earn the opportunity to release new music. Boom, S.E.S.’s Bada, Aiki, and EBS penguin character Pengsoo will be MCs and “watchers” to support and help the contestants.

The first look into the filming site shows 30 secret individual booths set up for the contestants. Upon entrance to the set, all members are guided one-on-one by the staff to ensure their security and privacy. Each contestant also covered their face with a range of unique items that give hint at their identity from a comic book to sundae (blood sausage), cheerleading props, deer mask, and more. They then enter their booths to wear their VR devices and log into the virtual world.

Since the program guarantees that their identities are hidden, the contestants are able to freely show their honest selves more without being too wary of others. The contestants first excitedly try to get friendly with each other through their own communication methods from offering to give each other water to asking for a handshake. However, the atmosphere quickly turns icy when MC Boom announces that the first competition will be a one-on-one “death match” and only 15 of them will be able to continue to the next round.

“GIRL’S RE:VERSE” is set to premiere on January 2 at 9:00 p.m. KST. The show will be available on Viki. Stay tuned!
