MONSTA X's Kihyun On Being Inspired By His Bandmates + How His Life Philosophy Changed In His 20s
In a recent interview and pictorial for Arena Homme Plus magazine, MONSTA X’s Kihyun took a thoughtful look back on his career.
Kihyun, whose last solo comeback was with the mini album “YOUTH,” reflected on the true meaning of youth after posing for the magazine’s February issue.
Explaining that he didn’t consider “youth” a fixed period of time, Kihyun remarked, “Any time can become your youth. No matter whether you’re 60 or 70 years old, if you personally think you shine brightly, then that’s your youth.”
Kihyun went on to share that in the eight years since he debuted with MONSTA X, his life philosophy has changed quite a bit.
“I barely have any memories of taking time off to have fun in my twenties,” he revealed. “I lived with this strict idea that I had created for myself that I needed to do well. But now, I’ve decided to set those feelings aside. I decided to live a more relaxed life with a broader perspective.”
As for what kept him motivated during those eight years, Kihyun spoke with deep affection about his bandmates.
“My fellow members were a big influence on me,” shared the singer. “Because the MONSTA X members are really good at expressing their feelings. They might seem aloof, but they’re actually very honest in expressing their feelings. Thanks to them, I felt inspired to work harder, and those feelings gave me lots of comfort and made it possible for me to endure the hard times.”
Kihyun’s full interview and pictorial can be found in the February issue of Arena Homme Plus magazine.
