"Kokdu: Season Of Deity" Premieres To Strong Ratings As "Payback" Breaks Into Double Digits
MBC’s new drama “Kokdu: Season of Deity” is off to a promising start!
“Kokdu: Season of Deity” is a fantasy romance drama starring Kim Jung Hyun as Kokdu, a grim reaper who leaves the underworld every 99 years to punish humans in the mortal realm. During his latest trip, he winds up meeting Han Gye Jeol, a female doctor who has the mysterious ability to order him around (played by Im Soo Hyang).
On January 27, the new drama premiered to higher viewership ratings than its predecessor “The Forbidden Marriage” (the series that previously occupied its time slot). According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of “Kokdu: Season of Deity” scored an average nationwide rating of 4.8 percent.
Meanwhile, SBS’s “Payback” broke into double-digit ratings with its latest episode, which earned a nationwide average of 11.1 percent and set a new personal record for the show.
