Lee Seung Gi Donates To KAIST In Support Of Scientific Advancements

Lee Seung Gi has made a generous donation to the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST)!

This past week, a news publication reported that Lee Seung Gi had made a donation to KAIST and asked that they lead the development of science technology, which is the future of Korea’s competitive power. Shortly after, a representative of KAIST announced, “It’s true that Lee Seung Gi donated 300 million won [approximately $245,200] to KAIST.”

On February 3, Lee Seung Gi will attend the KAIST Development Fund Agreement Ceremony at the institute’s Dogok campus.

Last November, it was revealed that Lee Seung Gi had sent a certification of contents to his longtime agency Hook Entertainment asking for transparent disclosure of his earnings. Dispatch then published a report alleging that Lee Seung Gi had never received any of his digital music profits from the agency, which Hook Entertainment initially denied.

However, after Lee Seung Gi’s legal representative released an additional statement refuting Hook Entertainment’s claims, the CEO of the agency ultimately apologized. In December, Hook Entertainment claimed that the company had now paid Lee Seung Gi what he was owed and Lee Seung Gi took to Instagram to share his perspective and promise to donate all the earnings.

This recent donation to KAIST marks Lee Seung Gi’s third with his unpaid earnings. At the end of 2022, Lee Seung Gi donated 2 billion won (approximately $1.6 million) to the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital. He followed up with another donation for his birthday in January, where he gave the Korean Red Cross 550 million won (approximately $442,500).

On February 15, Lee Seung Gi will begin his new MC position on JTBC’s audition show “Peak Time,” which features idols who have already made their debut.
