NewJeans Achieves 2nd Million-Selling Album With Self-Titled Debut EP

NewJeans now has their second million-selling album!

According to NewJeans’ agency ADOR on February 20, NewJeans has become million sellers once again after their debut album “New Jeans” sold 1,036,811 copies from August to February 11, as recorded by Circle Chart. “New Jeans” marks the first debut album to sell over a million copies since Circle Chart officially began collecting data in 2011.

As album sales and fandom size are largely correlated, it is especially impressive that NewJeans has reached this milestone without any members being previous audition program contestants or widely known to the public before their debut.

ADOR commented, “NewJeans has become million sellers with a method that is different from the typical approach, such as by releasing a music video first without much teaser content. After garnering syndrome-like popularity, they have become artists with two million-selling albums in about half a year.”

Last August, NewJeans recorded the highest first-day and first-week sales of any girl group debut album in Hanteo history with over 311,000 copies sold in the week of its release. Early this year, the group went on to smash their own first-week sales record after their single album “OMG” sold more than 480,000 copies on its first day of sales alone. That same month, “OMG” became NewJeans’ first million-selling album after recording 1,013,400 album sales within just three and a half weeks of its initial release.

In addition to their impressive album sales, NewJeans latest tracks “Ditto” and “OMG,” as well as their summer hit “Hype Boy,” have continued to dominate the top spots of many Korean charts.

Their albums have also released tons of love on a global scale, with “Ditto” and “OMG” ranking on Billboard’s Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks. On the latest Hot 100 chart, “OMG” recorded NewJeans’ highest peak at No. 74. On streaming platform Spotify, “OMG” has steadily climbed the global Weekly Top Songs chart, impressively sitting at No. 14 in the latest rankings. In its ninth consecutive week on the chart, “Ditto” is also ranked at No. 25.
