After hearing Honeybee’s distinctive voice, panelists THE BOYZ‘s Juyeon and Eric became noticeably excited as they seemed to instantly figure out who he was. When asked to give a hint about his identity, Eric said simply, “Honeybee definitely has the vocal tone of a rapper. I think he’s an idol, and I think he’s an idol group member who’s in charge of rap within his group.”
Although many of the celebrity panelists shared their admiration for Honeybee’s vocal tone and talent for emotional expression, it was ultimately Chaebol that won the round.
Honeybee went on to perform a soulful cover of Rain‘s “Love Song,” taking off his mask halfway through to reveal his identity.
As Juyeon and Eric had deduced, Honeybee turned out to be none other than ONEUS’s main rapper Leedo.
Explaining why he had recognized Leedo right away, Juyeon shared, “He’s a hyung [older male brother or friend] with whom I trained together and with whom I’ve eaten many meals.” Leedo chimed in, “We went to the same dance academy, and we were also trainees together [at the same company].”
Host Kim Sung Joo remarked, “Ah, so it would have been impossible for you not to recognize him,” and Juyeon agreed, “That’s right.”
After praising Leedo for his impressive physique, which he noted that the production team had intentionally hidden underneath his baggy honeybee costume, Kim Sung Joo remarked that the idol’s college major might be a surprise to many people. The MC then revealed that in contrast to his husky voice and his former dream of becoming a mixed martial arts fighter, Leedo used to major in childhood education.
“It’s because I really love kids,” explained Leedo, before serenading the audience with a classic children’s song at the panel’s request.
