TXT Scores Double Million Circle Certification + NewJeans, BLACKPINK, TWICE, And More Go Triple/Double Platinum
Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming.
On March 9, Circle Chart announced its latest album and streaming certifications. Albums are certified platinum at 250,000 sales and certified million once they reach a million copies sold.
The highest certification awarded this month went to TXT for their fifth mini album “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION,” which has officially sold 2 million copies just a little over a month after its release. The album’s Weverse edition also earned a platinum certification with over 250,000 sales.
NewJeans earned three album certifications this month, with both “OMG” and their debut EP “New Jeans” going triple platinum with over 750,000 album sales each. Their third certification was with the Weverse version of their “OMG” single album going platinum.
Earning double platinum certifications for over 500,000 album sales were BLACKPINK with “SQUARE UP” and TWICE with “What is Love?,” both of which were released in 2018. TWICE scored an additional platinum certification for “The year of ‘YES,'” the group’s third special album.
In the streaming category, songs earn platinum certifications after surpassing 100 million streams. The latest batch of certifications recognizes three songs, starting with NewJeans’ summer hit “Hype Boy” going platinum. With over 200 million streams, IU’s “Love Poem” has gone double platinum, while a triple platinum certification has been given to Jang Beom June’s “Melo Is My Nature” OST “Your Shampoo Scent in the Flowers” after garnering more than 300 million streams.
Congratulations to all the artists!
