YG's Yang Hyun Suk Says He Imagines BABYMONSTER As A 5-Member Group + Sets Date For Final Lineup Reveal

YG Entertainment will be revealing the final lineup for its new girl group BABYMONSTER in just two weeks!

On April 28, YG Entertainment released Episode 8 of its reality show “Last Evaluation,” which follows the seven trainees who are in the running to debut as members of BABYMONSTER.

At the end of the episode, YG founder Yang Hyun Suk—who previously announced that BABYMONSTER would not be a seven-member group and that he planned to eliminate at least one trainee—answered questions about his plans for the group’s lineup.

Yang Hyun Suk shared that he imagined BABYMONSTER as a five-member group, explaining, “Ever since we started planning the group BABYMONSTER, the number of members I had in mind for the group was five. Honestly, YG has never created girl groups with lots of members. BLACKPINK has four members, and 2NE1 also has four members.”

However, he went on to add, “I still haven’t been able to decide who those five members will be.”

He concluded by stating, “The final member lineup for BABYMONSTER will be publicly announced in two weeks, on May 12 at midnight [KST].”
