Cha Joo Young In Talks To Star As Female Lead In New Historical Drama

“The Glory” star Cha Joo Young might be taking on the lead role in a new historical drama!

On May 9, industry insiders shared, “Cha Joo Young will be starring in tvN’s new drama ‘Won Kyung’ (romanized title).”

In response to the report, Cha Joo Young’s agency Ghost Studio remarked, “Cha Joo Young received an offer to star in ‘Won Kyung’ and is positively reviewing it.”

“Won Kyung” tells the story of Queen Won Kyung, who wins power by joining hands with King Taejong Lee Bang Won 600 years ago. Won Kyung is recorded as a lady full of jealousy and desire in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty.

Cha Joo Young was offered to play the titular character Queen Won Kyung. Recreated through fiction, Won Kyung is the daughter of Min Je, the most prestigious noble family in Goryeo. She marries Lee Bang Won, who is two years younger than her, and eventually raises him to the throne, revealing her desire for power without hesitation.

Recently, Cha Joo Young received great love for her role as stewardess Hye Jeong in Netflix’s hit drama “The Glory.” She is currently appearing in KBS2’s weekend drama “The Real Has Come!
