tvN Responds To Reports Of "Hospital Playlist" Prequel + Confirms New Project By PD Shin Won Ho

tvN has released an official statement regarding a prequel for “Hospital Playlist.”

On June 1, STARNEWS reported that tvN’s hit “Hospital Playlist” series was getting a prequel and that producing director (PD) Shin Won Ho, who helmed the series, would be joining the production team. The report stated that the prequel would revolve around the college days of the five main characters of “Hospital Playlist” played by Jo Jung Suk, Jeon Mi Do, Jung Kyung Ho, Yoo Yeon Seok, and Kim Dae Myung, with different actors portraying their younger counterparts.

However, tvN shared in response to the reports, “It is true that there is a drama being planned with PD Shin Won Ho participating as the creator. But it’s not a prequel or spin-off of ‘Hospital Playlist’ at all.” They added, “We’re in the process of auditioning actors. It’s in the early stages of production.”

The “Hospital Playlist” series follows the lives of five doctors who work at the same hospital and have been friends since their medical school days. Season 1 aired in 2020 followed by Season 2 in 2021, and both runs peaked with viewership ratings of 14.1 percent during their respective finales.
