fromis_9 Dishes On The Message They Want To Convey With "Unlock My World," Highlights From The "#menow" MV, And More

fromis_9 is returning with their first full-length album “Unlock My World“!

Ahead of their highly-anticipated comeback, fromis_9 held a press conference where they discussed the meaning behind their first full-length album “Unlock My World” and their title track “#menow.”

At the press conference, Lee Saerom shared, “Since it’s our first full-length album, we really wanted to show good music.” Lee Seoyeon added, “Since it’s a full-length album, it’s an album that holds our great passion and affection. I think we got the courage to tell our story in front of the public and our fans through honest conversation.”

Regarding the title track, Lee Chaeyoung shared, “Like the title of the title track, we focused on the ‘me’ who is confident and the ‘me’ who I love,” emphasizing their intent to share an honest conversation with fans through their music.

Roh Jiseon elaborated on the message behind “#menow,” sharing, “We thought over it in length since it is very meaningful because it is our first full-length album. After discussion, we decided on expressing ‘myself’ as a topic. We felt that expressing ‘myself’ will convey our sincerity and growth.”

In comparison to their previous summer song “Stay This Way,” Baek Jiheon shared, “If [‘Stay This Way’] is a summer song that captures the cheerful vibes of summer, this song has more delicate feelings on first listen, which I enjoyed. Rather than just a cheerful summer song, it captures a refreshing story of ‘me’ within a detailed melody.”

Park Jiwon revealed, “During the music video, there’s a scene where we speed down the road, and I remember us running while looking at each other. We filmed enjoyably to the extent where we laughed out loud. That’s when I felt that our teamwork is really good.”

Baek Jiheon further added, “We discussed greatly while preparing for our full-length album. We had a lot of conversations over meals together. The eight members together all sat face-to-face and talked about how to express the album. I feel as if we have leveled up a step further. We’ve upgraded as a team.”

Song Hayoung revealed, “I looked forward to the music video [filming] because there was dancing in the synopsis. I’m a hip hop major, so I was anticipating hip hop, but it was more of a classical dance,” adding that she felt that she had also leveled up after seeing the results of her dance practice.

Lee Nagyung further shared, “The director suggested a dance battle, so we had a lot of fun amongst ourselves while filming. Please enjoy the cookie video at the end as well.”

fromis_9 also touched on how the units were performed for their unit songs. Lee Chaeyoung explained, “The unit combinations are based on which members well-suited the song concept when considering their voices or visuals,” also sharing that their strength as a team when all together is their synergy.

She continued, “When listening to our song, the lyrics can be easily heard, and I have often heard that it feels as if a story is unfolding right before the listener’s eyes. I think our team’s strength is that the song appears exactly as it is in front of people’s eyes.”
