Watch: Former Boy Group Member Who Competed On Recent Survival Show Covers TVXQ On 'The King Of Mask Singer'

On the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” the identity of “Acting Cute” was revealed!

During the June 25 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants appeared on the show to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

In the third match-up of Round 1, “Acting Cute” and “Big Catch” faced off with a duet version of TVXQ‘s iconic debut song “Hug.”

After watching their performance, the panelists attempted to figure out who the masked singers were, and opinions were divided on the identity of Acting Cute.

While some panelists were convinced that Acting Cute was an idol, others insisted that he didn’t seem like one, with several even guessing that he might be a comedian. However, Sandara Park declared that she thought she knew exactly who this idol was, asking him, “Didn’t you recently appear on an audition show? I saw this exact same energy [in a contestant] on a program that aired very recently.”

When host Kim Sung Joo asked if she could name the first initial of his name, she replied, “C.”

Although the panelists praised Acting Cute for his charming vocal tone, it was ultimately his opponent Big Catch that won the round.

Acting Cute then remained on stage to perform a sweet rendition of Paul Kim’s “Hey” (from the soundtrack of “Love Playlist 2”). Halfway through the song, he took off his mask to reveal his identity—and sure enough, he turned out to be former TO1 member Cha Woong Ki, who recently competed on the Mnet survival show “Boys Planet.”

Later, Kim Sung Joo asked Sandara Park if Cha Woong Ki was the “C” she’d had in mind, and she confirmed that he was.

“When I was watching ‘Boys Planet,’ he was such a positive and optimistic person that he left a deep impression on me,” recalled the 2NE1 member. “I thought to myself, ‘He’s going to make it big.'”

Meanwhile, Shin Bong Sun, who had met Cha Woong Ki during his days as a child actor, expressed amazement at just how much he’d grown since then.

When asked about his goals for the future, Cha Woong Ki cheerfully shared, “I hope to become a singer that can stand before all of you and be a positive influence for a long, long time. I’ll try to greet you again with good things as soon as possible. Thank you!”
