Multiple TV Shows Cancelled Due To Coverage Of Lethal Storm And Floods

Several TV programs have cancelled their Sunday broadcasts due to coverage of the extreme rainfall that has caused deadly floods and landslides in South Korea.

For the past few days, severe monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in South Korea, leading to at least 33 deaths and leaving others injured or without power.

On July 16, MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer” and most of KBS’s Sunday variety shows—including “2 Days & 1 Night Season 4,” “National Singing Contest,” “Animal Farm,” and more—announced that they would not be airing that day.

MBC will be airing a special news broadcast about the damage caused by the storm at 6 p.m. KST, the time slot usually occupied by “The King of Mask Singer.”

Meanwhile, KBS stated, “As the network in charge of reporting on disasters, KBS has cancelled its main programs in response to the national damage caused by the severe rainfall, and we are focusing on disaster coverage instead.”

We offer our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this ongoing disaster.
