"Queendom Puzzle" Eliminates 7 Contestants + Announces Current Top 7 After Semifinals

Mnet’s “Queendom Puzzle” is just one week away from deciding its final winners!

A spin-off of the hit survival show “Queendom,” “Queendom Puzzle” features idols—including members of currently active girl groups—battling for spots in a new seven-member project girl group. Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon, who previously hosted the second season of “Queendom,” serves as the show’s MC.

On August 8, the show aired its semifinal round live, with viewers able to cast votes for their preferred team in real time.

In the semifinals, the contestants split up into three teams to perform one of three brand-new songs: “PUZZLIN’,” which was co-composed by DAY6’s Young K; “i DGA,” which was co-composed by iKON‘s Bobby; or “I Do,” which was co-composed by the famous producer Ryan Jhun.

After the eliminations from two weeks ago, the “i DGA” team needed one more member to complete a lineup of seven, while the “I Do” team needed to get rid of one member.

To even out the team numbers, Elly wound up moving from the “I Do” team to “i DGA,” so that the final lineups for each song were as follows:

After all the votes had been tallied, it was ultimately the “i DGA” team that won the round, meaning each member of the team would have 30,000 points added to her individual voting score for this week’s eliminations.

Before revealing the current rankings, Taeyeon also announced that the members of the project group formed on the show—named EL7Z U+P (pronounced “Ellz Up”)—would still be able to promote together with their original groups (or solo) alongside their activities for EL7Z +P.

Taeyeon then revealed the current top 7 contestants based on the results of the global vote thus far (plus the benefits awarded through the show’s various missions).

The top 7 (announced randomly, in no particular order) were as follows:

• Lovelyz’s Kei
• WJSN’s Yeoreum
• PURPLE KISS’s Yuki
• CLC’s Yeeun
• Rocket Punch’s Yeonhee

However, the votes were reset immediately after today’s episode, meaning that the contestants’ semifinal rankings will have no impact on the final results.

Meanwhile, the seven contestants who were eliminated during today’s ceremony were:

• Weeekly’s Lee Soojin
• Cherry Bullet’s Jiwon
• Weeekly’s Zoa

The seven final members of EL7Z U+P will be revealed next week during the live finale of “Queendom Puzzle” on August 15, and the episode will also feature a special group performance by all 26 contestants from the show.
