ASTRO’s Sanha, Kim Kang Min, And Baek Sung Hyun Confirmed For New Historical Film
The film “Suunjapbang” tells the story of noble man Kim Yu, a real person in the Joseon Dynasty who wrote the recipe book “Suunjapbang.” In his third year of taking the national civil service exam, Kim Yu meets Gye Am, who calls himself the best chef in Joseon, and starts searching for the life he really wants as he gets immersed into the world of gastronomy.
“Suunjapbang,” which is the core subject of the film, is a traditional recipe book handed down in the prestigious head family of the Andong Gwangsan Kim clan as an heirloom. It is also one of the national treasures of Korea as it is the oldest Chinese manuscript in Korea that contains the recipes for 121 types of alcohol and food.
ASTRO’s Sanha will take on the the role of Kim Yu, whose only goal is to pass the national civil service exam, which has been a family tradition for generations. After meeting chef Gye Am, he starts to ponder what the life he really wants is. Sanha appeared in various projects including the web drama “Your Playlist” and KBS2’s “Crazy Love.”
Kim Kang Min will play the role of Gye Am, who introduced the world of gastronomy to Kim Yu. Despite his poor family background, Gye Am claims himself to be the top chef in Joseon with his passion for cooking. Kim Kang Min has starred in various dramas such as “School 2021,” “To My Star,” and “Stove League.”
Baek Sung Hyun will make a special appearance as Kim Yu’s supportive older brother Kim Yeon, who has soft yet strong charisma. Baek Sung Hyun showcased his solid acting skills through the dramas “Casting a Spell to You,” “Voice,” and “Doctors.”
“Suunjapbang” will be released on December 16 as part of “2023 KBS Drama Special.” Stay tuned!
