Han Ji Eun, Cha Woo Min, And More Confirmed To Join Hwang Minhyun In Drama Based On Webtoon "Study Group"

Hwang Minhyun and Han Ji Eun’s upcoming drama “Study Group” (literal title) has confirmed its cast lineup!

On September 20, TVING’s original series “Study Group” revealed that in addition to Hwang Minhyun, who was previously confirmed for the role, Han Ji Eun, Cha Woo Min, Lee Jong Hyun, Shin Soo Hyun, Yoon Sang Jung, and Gong Do Yu will be joining the cast lineup.

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Study Group” follows the life of student Yoon Ga Min, who wants to be good at studying but is only good at fighting, as he forms a study group at Yusung Technical High School, one of the worst schools on earth, and tells a fierce story about college entrance exams.

Hwang Minhyun will play Yoon Ga Min who looks like a model student with his glasses and tidy image, but he is actually close to last place in terms of grades and is only talented in fighting. Despite all that, Yoon Ga Min sits diligently at his desk with the goal of going to college. However, when his study group friends get bullied, Yoon Ga Min takes off his glasses and school uniform jacket to put his fighting skills to use.

Han Ji Eun will play Yoon Ga Min’s teacher Lee Han Kyeong who dreams of seeing the school change for the better. During her university days, Lee Han Kyeong tutored Yoon Ga Min, and she will reunite with Yoon Ga Min when she is appointed as a temporary teacher at Yoon Ga Min’s school Yusung Technical High School with a secret despite receiving top scores on the teacher certification examination.

Cha Woo Min will play Yusung Technical High School’s top dog Phi Han Wool, who is the son of Phi Yeon Baek, one of the heads of the White Lead Gang. Having impressed in another webtoon-based school drama through “Weak Hero Class 1,” viewers are awaiting Cha Woo Min’s next transformation.

Furthermore, the new cast lineup confirmed the actors who will be transforming into the study group members. Lee Jong Hyun will be playing the school’s No. 2 student and the study group’s first member Kim Se Hyun. “Duty After School” star Shin Soo Hyun will be playing Lee Ji Woo, whose weakness was found out by the student council iljin (school bullying) group due to her rebellious younger twin. Yoon Sang Jung will play Lee Ji Woo’s close friend Choi Hee Won, and Gong Do Yu will play Lee Jun, who is the self-proclaimed second-in-charge of the study group.

“Study Group” will be helmed by director Lee Jang Hoon of “Miracle: Letters to the President” and “Be With You.” The production team shared, “We wish to give the hope that even people who appear to stay the same could also change some day through the drama about growth of the main character Ga Min and his friends who dream of change.”
