Lee Se Young Is A Headstrong Noblewoman Chasing Her Dreams In New Romance Drama With Bae In Hyuk
MBC’s upcoming drama “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” (literal translation) has shared a new sneak peek of Lee Se Young’s character!
Based on the webtoon of the same name, MBC’s “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” is a time-slip romance drama about the contractual marriage between bachelor Kang Tae Ha (played by Bae In Hyuk) and Park Yeon Woo (Lee Se Young), who has traveled to modern day from 19th century Joseon.
In the Joseon era, Park Yeon Woo is the strong-willed only daughter of the Minister of the Interior. Despite getting older, she has not gotten married, making her a famous “old maid” in the city of Hanyang.
Although it was difficult for women in the Joseon era to express themselves and live the lives they wanted, Park Yeon Woo has always been intent on chasing her dreams—and so she leads a secret double life as the “butterfly teacher,” who sells clothing and embroidered goods that she has made using her expert craftsmanship.
Newly released stills from the upcoming drama hint at Park Yeon Woo’s headstrong personality and daring ways. In one set of photos, a seemingly shocked Park Yeon Woo gestures frantically at something while clutching a book; in another, she appears to be sneakily getting up to trouble with a determined look in her eye.
The producers of “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” commented, “Lee Se Young is flawlessly pulling off and breathing life into the character of Park Yeon Woo, who has a lot of curiosity and knows exactly what she wants despite living in the Joseon era, when it was hard for women to pursue their dreams.”
They continued, “Please look forward to seeing what happens when the charming Joseon girl Park Yeon Woo crash-lands in the 21st century.”
“The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” will premiere on November 24 at 9:50 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser for the drama here!
