"Home Alone" Denies Allegations Of Product Placement Affiliated With JMS Cult
MBC’s “Home Alone” (“I Live Alone”) has responded to allegations of being associated with the JMS cult.
Warning: Brief mentions of sexual violence in the next paragraph.
Previously, the November 3 broadcast of “I Live Alone” featured a hotel located in Wanju County of North Jeolla province in the city of Jeonju. Regarding this, one YouTuber alleged that “I Live Alone” depicted the hotel as PPL (product placement) and that the hotel is a company under JMS Providence (also known as the Christian Gospel Mission), a cult founded by leader and convicted rapist Jung Myung Seok, who is described as having groomed and sexually exploited many of his young female followers.
The YouTuber alleged, “On paper, they may have no relation at all to JMS, but it is a hotel very closely related to JMS,” saying that various festivals and sports outing events took place there. They alleged that the production team may be linked to JMS if the hotel was shown as free PPL on the program. A source from the Methodist Cult Damage Prevention Center further shared that the relevant hotel is deeply intertwined with JMS.
On November 17, the production team of “I Live Alone” shared, “The current allegations are groundless. We will work hard to pay more attention to the various opinions sent in by viewers. Thank you.”
