Watch: Ji Chang Wook And Shin Hye Sun Rekindle An Old Flame In

JTBC has shared a new sneak peek of its upcoming drama “Welcome to Samdalri”!

Helmed by “When the Camellia Blooms” director Cha Young Hoon, “Welcome to Samdalri” is a new romance drama starring Ji Chang Wook as Jo Yong Pil, a man who has faithfully stayed in his hometown on Jeju Island all his life in order to protect its residents. Shin Hye Sun will star as Jo Sam Dal, who grew up together with Jo Yong Pil as his close childhood friend.

Unlike Yong Pil, who was content to remain in his hometown of Samdalri, Sam Dal made it her mission to get out of their small town and move to Seoul. In order to chase her dream of becoming a photographer, Sam Dal gritted her teeth and toiled away as an assistant in the cutthroat fashion industry—and after years of hard work, she finally made it to the top under the new name Jo Eun Hye. However, when everything she’s worked so hard to build comes crashing down in the blink of an eye, she is forced to return to Samdalri.

The newly released teaser begins with Sam Dal saying in voice-over, “In my hometown of Jeju, there’s one particular teaching that they emphasize the most while instructing haenyeo [female divers]. ‘Don’t get too greedy, and just stay [underwater] for as long as your breath can last. And when you can’t hold out any longer, return above water, where you started, and catch your breath.’”

After glimpses of Sam Dal’s hard-earned career falling apart in Seoul, the teaser shows the disgraced photographer returning to Samdalri, where she is reunited with her ex-boyfriend Yong Pil. There, Yong Pil tells her, “So let’s find her. Not the photographer Jo Eun Hye, but the real Jo Sam Dal.”

As Sam Dal embarks on a journey of healing, she defensively tells someone, “Who says I came back because I failed? I simply came back to the place where I used to be.” The video then flashes back to Sam Dal’s past, when she first began dreaming of becoming a photographer before leaving Jeju for Seoul.

Later, Sam Dal says to Yong Pil, “Didn’t you tell me to find her? Jo Sam Dal and not Jo Eun Hye?” Brandishing an instant camera, she then proudly declares, “This is Jo Sam Dal. Jo Sam Dal used this [to take photos]. One shot, one kill.”

Finally, the teaser ends with Yong Pil saying, “I told you, there are things that don’t change even with time.” Sam Dal agrees, “You were right. It turns out there are things that don’t change.” Yong Pil responds by asking, “Like me?”

“Welcome to Samdalri” will premiere on December 2 at 10:30 p.m. KST. In the meantime, check out the new teaser below!
