Hong Sa Bin Announces Military Enlistment After Winning Best New Actor At Blue Dragon Film Awards

Hong Sa Bin has announced that he will be enlisting in the military next month.

On November 26, Hong Sa Bin’s agency SEM Company confirmed reports that the actor was preparing for his enlistment. A representative of the agency revealed, “Hong Sa Bin is enlisting on December 19.”

The news came as a surprise to many in the industry, as just two days earlier, Hong Sa Bin won Best New Actor at the 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards for his performance in the film “Hopeless” (which also starred Song Joong Ki).

In response to questions about the unexpected timing of his decision, Hong Sa Bin’s agency remarked, “‘Hopeless’ received a great response, and [Hong Sa Bin] had the honor of being nominated for multiple awards. From the standpoint of both the actor and our agency, we worried a lot over when to set his enlistment date. It seemed like he shouldn’t put it off any longer, and there was the opinion that it might be better for him to go now and come back quickly, so that’s how the decision was made.”
