Jo Jung Suk, Shin Se Kyung, And More Impress At Script Reading For Upcoming Historical Drama

tvN has shared photos and a video from the script reading for its upcoming historical drama “Sejak” (romanized title)!

Written by Kim Sun Deok of tvN’s “The Crowned Clown,” “Sejak” tells the cruel love story of King Yi In, who is in danger due to royal and political power struggles, and Kang Hee Soo, who tries to seduce the King to get revenge, but gets seduced instead.

In addition to director Jo Nam Gook and writer Kim Sun Deok, cast members Jo Jung Suk, Shin Se Kyung, Lee Shin Young, Park Ye Young, Son Hyun Joo, Choi Dae Hoon, Jo Sung Ha, Lee Kyu Hoe, Yang Kyung Won, Jang Young Nam, Ahn Si Ha, Kang Hong Seok, Na Hyun Woo, Han Dong Hee, and Song Sang Eun were present at the script reading.

When the script reading began, all the actors completely immersed themselves in their respective roles and delivered impressive performances. Jo Jung Suk, who plays Yi In, a miserable king who has no one around him that he can trust, perfectly captured his character’s complex and changing emotions as he goes from being a crown prince to becoming a king.

Meanwhile, Shin Se Kyung skillfully captured the contrasting auras of strong-willed woman Kang Hee Soo and gambler Kang Mong Woo without relying on costumes.

Lee Shin Young, who is starring in his first-ever historical drama, delivered a stellar performance as Kim Myung Ha, who admires Kang Hee Soo, while Park Ye Young created tension with her portrayal of court lady Dong, who is surrounded by secrets.

Son Hyun Joo, who plays Kang Hee Soo’s father Kang Hang Soon, captured the character’s strong aura with his calm tone of voice, and as Kim Jong Bae, the minister of military affairs, Jo Sung Ha added weight to the power struggle within the palace with his cold voice.

Jang Young Nam, who plays Yi In’s mother Queen Dowager Park, captured the character’s sassy personality with her sharp speech and gaze.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the drama, Jo Jung Suk commented, “I became even more excited for the drama during the script reading.”

Meanwhile, Shin Se Kyung commented, “During the script reading, I felt the story come alive, and my anticipation for the drama grew even more. Please give ‘Sejak’ lots of anticipation, interest, and support.”
