8 Costumed K-Pop Dance Practices That Are Funnier Than They Have Any Right To Be

Dance practices are a great way to see a performance focused on the choreography rather than all the fun and flashy stage effects – dance the way that it’s intended! The costumed versions of dance practices add a whole other layer of (often unintended) hilariousness to the practice. If you want a giggle, just give these a watch!

1. THE BOYZ’s “The Stealer”

You can tell that all of the members of THE BOYZ were committed to their dance practice characters right from the introduction! There’s a lot going on in this video, but it’s one that you can laugh at over and over again. Watch for Juyeon falling over just like Woody from “Toy Story,” and for Hyunjae’s hilarious facial expressions as he’s “abducted” by the alien mid-dance practice! The variety of costumes here is hilarious.

2. ITZY’s “WANNABE”

ITZY’s hit “WANNABE” has one of the most viral choreographies in K-pop, but this dance practice is nothing but hilarity! The members played a game to choose their superhero-themed costumes, with one “punishment” costume. With characters like Elsa from “Frozen” and comic book hero Wonder Woman, member Lia ended up having to do the dance as a strawberry! She killed it in this costume, but even the members are laughing.

3. Stray Kids’ “Thunderous”

If you’re not familiar with SKZOO, they’re the characters designed and based on the Stray Kids members. This dance practice of “Thunderous” involves the members dressed up as their SKZOO characters, outfitted with gigantic plush heads and shoes. They manage to hold it together remarkably well considering how difficult the choreography is, but everything falls apart by the end when heads and shoes start flying!

4. BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That”

The members of BLACKPINK dressed up as various characters from Disney’s “Frozen” for their fun version of the “How You Like That” dance practice, and the results are hilarious! The members added in all kinds of adorable extras to the choreography, and it’s also funny to know that any time Lisa’s hood is down, she can’t see anything and has no idea where the camera is! This is less of a dance practice and more of a party with the BLACKPINK members.

5. SEVENTEEN’s “BOOMBOOM”

A blast from the past that’s just as hilarious as the day it came out, SEVENTEEN did a special-edition Christmas performance of their song “BOOMBOOM” dressed in various Santa or reindeer-themed outfits. The hilarity doesn’t end there though – if you watch carefully, you can see the members joking around and stealing each other’s spotlight throughout the practice! A number of memes have come out of this video among SEVENTEEN’s fans.

6. WayV’s “Bad Alive”

At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this is a girl group’s dance practice. The members of WayV are dressed up as various Disney princesses for their video of the choreography from “Bad Alive,” and the costumes suit them a little too well! Their commitment to their characters is also super hilarious, and it’s fun to watch them add fun little twists to the choreo. It’s also amazing that YangYang was able to move at all in that mermaid costume!

7. MAMAMOO’s “Starry Night”

The funniest part of this dance practice isn’t just that it involves the members wearing hilarious animal costumes – it’s that it was filmed in public, with fans who had no idea that it was the group members under the gigantic animal heads! There’s also behind-the-scenes footage included in this one that shows them struggling to get into their costumes. What started out as a silly bet about whether or not they would win on a music show with “Starry Night” turned into this!

8. BTS’s “21st Century Girl”

This dance practice is iconic among BTS stans for a reason! The group has done a couple of costumed dance practices, but this one is without a doubt one of the funniest. Most of the costumes are too bulky for the members to dance in properly, resulting in hilarious collisions and accidental spills as they try to stay in formation. The memes that came out of this “21st Century Girl” dance practice went down in ARMY history!
