On October 11, SBS’s “The Fiery Priest” released photos of the cast members at its script reading.
SBS’s “The Fiery Priest,” which first aired in 2019, is about a Catholic priest with anger management issues and a cowardly detective who work together to solve a murder case. Season 1 originally starred Kim Nam Gil, Lee Ha Nee, and Kim Sung Kyun, and the drama recorded a peak viewership rating of 22.0 percent.
At the script reading, Kim Nam Gil, Lee Ha Nee, Kim Sung Kyun, Sung Joon, Seo Hyun Woo, BIBI, Kim Won Hae, Go Kyu Pil, Ahn Chang Hwan, Baek Ji Won, Jeon Sung Woo, and Yang Hyun Min were in attendance, showing their excitement and enthusiasm for the new Season.
Kim Nam Gil reprises his role as the “fiery priest” Kim Hae Il, who is chosen by the Pope and given authority to bring justice as the priest Bellator. The actor made a humble opening remark by saying, “It’s not easy to do a Season 2 after five years. I am very grateful that they made this possible despite the fact that all the actors had to make some personal sacrifices. I kindly ask for your support.”
Lee Ha Nee, who returns as the secretive prosecutor Park Kyung Sun, confidently stated, “Since the stage has been set, I think we can just have a lot of fun with it.” She then shone with her playful acting that amplified her character Park Kyung Sun’s unique charm.
Kim Sung Kyun delicately portrayed the friendly and relatable detective Koo Dae Young, who assists Kim Hae Il and is known for his strong sense of justice.
Meanwhile, Sung Joon, Seo Hyun Woo, and BIBI, who newly joined the cast of “The Fiery Priest 2,” each proved to be the “hidden cards” of Season 2 with their unique charms. Sung Joon exuded exceptional charisma as Kim Hong Sik, who returns to his hometown of Busan to establish a drug cartel after being sold to Laos as a child.
Seo Hyun Woo, who plays Nam Doo Heon, a corrupt prosecutor in the Southern District Prosecutors’ Office’s Narcotics Division in Busan, perfectly embodied his character’s dual nature and showcased detailed acting with a captivating Busan dialect.
BIBI takes on the role of Koo Ja Young, a detective in the “Anonymous Team” of the Busan Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, delivering a charming dialect and exuding a down-to-earth, fearless charm that stands out.
More trusted actors Kim Won Hae, Go Kyu Pil, Ahn Chang Hwan, Baek Ji Won, Jeon Sung Woo, and Yang Hyun Min are set to make a significant impact as scene-stealers, promising to enrich the drama in Season 2 with their dynamic performances.
