MADEIN's Agency Denies Report Of CEO Sexually Assaulting Member
143 Entertainment has denied rumors that its CEO sexually assaulted a member of MADEIN.
On November 22, JTBC’s current affairs program “Crime Chief” aired a report about a rookie girl group member who had allegedly been sexually assaulted by her agency CEO. Although the show did not name the group or the agency in question, viewers noticed that the program aired a blurred video of one of MADEIN’s music show performances during the segment. The description of the group also matched MADEIN, who just made their debut this past September under 143 Entertainment.
Additionally, 143 Entertainment announced recently that MADEIN member Gaeun would be going on a temporary hiatus due to her health, fueling speculation that Gaeun was the girl group member in question.
Shortly after the program aired, 143 Entertainment released the following statement on MADEIN’s official social media accounts:
This is 143 Entertainment.
We are making an official statement regarding the issue that was reported on JTBC’s “Crime Chief” yesterday.
First, there was no sexual harassment or other sexual contact stemming from abuse of power between the CEO and the member that was mentioned on the broadcast, and we are letting you know the report is not true.
Additionally, we would like to inform you that regarding the hotel-related content involving the member in question, their other acquaintances were also all there together at the same time.
The content reported [on the program] was based on reported false statements made by other people, not by the member in question. We are clearly informing you once again that these claims are unfounded.
We apologize deeply for suddenly giving you cause for concern through this unsavory matter.
