Jin Ki Joo Talks About Why She Chose To Star In “Undercover High School,” Chemistry With Seo Kang Jun, And More

Jin Ki Joo has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “Undercover High School”!

“Undercover High School” is a comedy action drama that follows Jeong Hae Seong (Seo Kang Joon), a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who goes undercover as a high school student to track down Emperor Gojong’s missing gold.

Jin Ki Joo stars as Oh Soo Ah, a temporary Korean history teacher and Jeong Hae Seong’s homeroom teacher. Cheerful and easygoing, she genuinely cares for her students. Determined to become a full-time teacher, Soo Ah’s passion and energy bring life to the story.

Explaining why she chose the project, Jin Ki Joo said, “It feels like a ‘mealtime companion’—a show you can watch comfortably and enjoy with a smile, which made it very appealing to me.”

She also described her character, saying, “Soo Ah is a teacher who truly loves her students, but she also has a personal reason for wanting to become a full-time teacher. These two motivations sometimes conflict, creating dilemmas and blurring the line between her goals and methods.”

When preparing for the role, she sought insight into real teachers’ challenges. “I wanted to understand the dilemmas teachers face, so before filming, I sought advice directly. It helped answer my questions and gave me the confidence to approach the role,” she said.

Jin Ki Joo also praised her co-star Seo Kang Joon, saying, “He’s truly a veteran actor, and I’m grateful he became such a reliable leader on set. Our teamwork is great, and thanks to that, everyone enjoyed filming.”

The actress summed up her character Oh Soo Ah with three key words: “chaotic,” “students,” and “a teacher-like a friend.” She explained, “These words define Soo Ah, and ‘students’ is the most important. They are both her life’s purpose and her greatest source of strength.”
