Netflix’s new series “When Life Gives You Tangerines” has unveiled a new summery poster, trailer, and stills ahead of the release of its second part.
A story about love and life by “Fight My Way” and “When the Camellia Blooms” screenwriter Lim Sang Choon, “When Life Gives You Tangerines” follows the adventures of “the remarkable rebel” Ae Sun (IU) and “unyielding iron” Gwan Sik (Park Bo Gum) through four vibrant seasons on Jeju Island.
The newly released poster captures Ae Sun and Gwan Sik in their 20s, now as a married couple, set against the backdrop of the seaside. Ae Sun leans on Gwan Sik, smiling brightly, while Gwan Sik, carrying a fishing net on one shoulder and a lunchbox in the other hand, gazes in the same direction with a gentle smile. Their appearance evokes curiosity about their journey ahead, as they continue to trust and rely on each other through moments of joy and sorrow, no matter what challenges come their way.
The tagline, “Dedicated to you. Still so young, always so tender-hearted,” stirs anticipation for the story of Ae Sun and Gwan Sik as they navigate the trials and errors of life, build a family together, and grow into their roles as parents, marking yet another chapter of growth in their lives.
The drama’s second part trailer unfolds through the narration of Ae Sun and Gwan Sik’s daughter Geum Myeong (IU). As Ae Sun becomes a mother and Gwan Sik becomes a father, everything feels new and unfamiliar, but they navigate life together, strengthened by the bond of family they create. Once a shy literary girl who could not even sell cabbages at the market, Ae Sun grows into a determined mother who ambitiously takes on the role of the head of the local fishing community.
Gwan Sik, ever steadfast in his love for Ae Sun, transforms into a reliable father who wants to do anything and everything for Ae Sun and their children. Together, they showcase the vibrant, flourishing moments of life, akin to the height of summer.
The story also teases the journey of their first child Geum Myeong, who has now grown into a college student, further raising anticipation. By Geum Myeong’s side are always Ae Sun (Moon So Ri) and Gwan Sik (Park Hae Joon), who are willing to do anything for their child. Geum Myeong’s narration, “In the thriving spirit of summer, even my young parents grew. I blossomed, nourished by their dreams,” deepens curiosity about Ae Sun and Gwan Sik’s transformation from clumsy first-time parents to pillars of trust and support for their children, promising a heartfelt new chapter in their story.
