Exclusive: LE SSERAFIM Dishes On Expanding Their Music Spectrum With "HOT," Love For Members, Upcoming Tour, And More

LE SSERAFIM is finally here with their highly-anticipated return!

On March 14, LE SSERAFIM held a press conference ahead of their comeback with their fifth mini album “HOT.” To celebrate, the members dished on their latest album and its message, discussing the theme of “love” for the first time out of the three-part album series including “EASY” and “CRAZY.”

Huh Yunjin, who is also credited to have participated on the song, shared, “It was an honor, and I was so happy. It was very difficult with corrections after corrections, but I worked really hard. The most important aspect I took into account while working on the song was how it would feel when the members sang it.” She further elaborated on her love for working on music, talking about receiving inspiration from various places as well as dreams and conversations with the LE SSERAFIM members. She remarked, “I also like nature and exhibitions and enjoy taking on various experiences.”

The members highlighted the moonwalk portion of their performance for their latest title track, with Hong Eunchae revealing, “[We practiced] from the beginning of the practice room to the end of the other wall.” Hong Eunchae further mentioned, “Our finishing pose is us tilting our heads back, and I already think the ending poses [at music shows] will be very difficult.” Huh Yunjin joked, “We’ll have to stretch our backs a lot.”

On what heats up the members’ passion, Hong Eunchae remarked, “I think it’s every moment as LE SSERAFIM and us five members coming together to do the music that we love.” Kazuha added, “We always try to put our thoughts in the album, and like Hong Eunchae mentioned, I think this album felt most relatable out of the three albums.”

On goals, Kazuha further highlighted, “We’re also hosting our world tour too, so since we’re meeting a lot of people, I want to showcase perfect stages.” Sakura added, “I think it’s important to work hard so that I’m not embarassed of my past self. I think it would be great to make Billboard’s Hot 100 [again].”

Regarding the track “HOT” featuring the theme of “love,” Huh Yunjin elaborated that the “love” mentioned is not specifically romantic. She shared, “This love can be for your work, hobby, or even our imperfect selves and the people who still love and support us despite being lacking. It’s a comprehensive love.”

Expanding on future music, Kim Chaewon shared, “Our next song is not decided, but since we talked about ‘love’ for the first time, I think it would be great to expand about that love.”

Reflecting on nearing their third debut anniversary, Kim Chaewon remarked, “Through this album, I hope to become a team that can take on many genres, showcasing a wide spectrum.” Sakura further dished on how she viewed results to be more important in the past, sharing, “But while with LE SSERAFIM, I realized that the process is more important than the results. Although I cannot control the results, the process, I can [control] by working harder and doing my best.”

For a memorable moment from last year, Hong Eunchae chose winning at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs). She remarked, “The EMAs and my birthday overlapped. It was my first birthday I spent abroad, so I thought people wouldn’t know, but everyone I met wished me happy birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience.” Kim Chaewon also brought up the year-end stages, saying, “Even though we didn’t have much time, we remained until dawn to practice.”

Huh Yunjin touched more on connecting to the members through this album, sharing, “We expressed our love more through this album, and I confess my love to the members in the group chat.” Kim Chaewon added, “She texted, ‘Members, I love you,’ all of a sudden, so I was flustered but grateful.”

Wrapping up, the members highlighted the upcoming world tour. Huh Yunjin previewed, “We didn’t do a tour while promoting the first and second part of [our album trilogy], so I think this set list will be very different [from our previous tour]. Some new song arrangements may also be included.”
