Park Bo Young Talks About Her Twin Roles In “Our Unwritten Seoul,” How She Portrays Them, And The Drama's Key Point

Park Bo Young has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “Our Unwritten Seoul”!

“Our Unwritten Seoul” is a romantic drama about identical twin sisters Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae (both played by Park Bo Young), who lead completely different lives. After switching identities through a web of lies, they embark on a journey to discover real love and the true meaning of life.

Park Bo Young is taking on a new challenge by playing four roles—she will portray the twin sisters, as well as each sister pretending to be the other. Reflecting on her first impression of the script, Park Bo Young said, “The story of the two sisters, Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae, felt special. I thought this could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and, in a way, a great opportunity for my acting career.”

One line from the script especially resonated with her: “I will live as you, and you will live as me.” The line, symbolizing a secret pact between the sisters, left a strong impact. She said, “I was curious where the story would go next. I liked how the characters would grow and how they faced their own pain and shortcomings while developing.” She added, “I believe writer Lee Kang’s script has the power to touch people’s hearts. That part strongly drew me in.”

Park Bo Young also shared a deep connection with the twin characters, who may look alike but lead vastly different lives. She explained, “Both Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae hide their flaws and emotional wounds. However, Yoo Mi Ji has a sincere charm that allows her to connect with others and open people’s hearts. On the other hand, Yoo Mi Rae’s charm lies in her quiet, steady, and faithful dedication to always doing her best in any situation.”

To highlight the subtle but important differences between the characters, Park Bo Young shared her approach. “Mi Ji is a bit more playful, while Mi Rae is calm—that’s the most obvious contrast,” she said. “Even though they pretend to be each other, one of them isn’t very good at it. We built that into the story and developed it further through discussions with the director.” Her thoughtful preparation has fans looking forward to the depth she’ll bring to each role.

Finally, Park Bo Young left viewers with a playful challenge: “Pay close attention and see if you can tell whether I’m playing Mi Rae or Mi Ji in each scene.” She also underscored a central theme of the drama, saying, “Follow the story of twin sisters who believe they know each other better than anyone. They switch lives to carry each other’s pain, but in doing so, they end up facing their own—like looking into a mirror—and grow from it.” Her words have only heightened anticipation for the premiere.
