“The Haunted Palace” Director Talks About What To Expect In The Drama’s Second Half

The director of “The Haunted Palace” has shared his thoughts on what to expect in the second half of the drama!

“The Haunted Palace” is a fantasy historical rom-com that delves into the tale of the Eight Feet Tall spirit that bears a grudge against the king, a female shaman who opposes it, and an evil spirit known as Imugi. BTOB’s Yook Sungjae stars as Yoon Gap, a royal archivist and Yeo Ri’s first love who becomes possessed by an Imugi named Gangcheori. WJSN’s Kim Ji Yeon stars as Yeo Ri, the granddaughter of a powerful shaman who rejects her spiritual powers and destined path. Kim Ji Hun plays King Lee Jeong, a fictional ruler who must confront the Eight Feet Tall Spirit, a vengeful entity determined to settle a score with the royal family.

In episodes 7 and 8, Gangcheori, Yeo Ri, and King Lee Jeong engage in a fierce, action-packed battle against the water ghost Makdol (Kim Jun Won). During the fight, a mysterious figure known as “Yapper,” revealed to be Pung San (Kim Sang Ho), is exposed as the mastermind behind the string of dark incidents in the royal palace.

In a shocking twist, the real mastermind is exposed as Kim Bong In (Son Byung Ho), the chief state councilor and Lee Jeong’s maternal grandfather. Meanwhile, the death of Yeo Ri’s grandmother, Neop Deok (Gil Hae Yeon), is revealed to be the work of the Eight Feet Tall spirit—not Gangcheori, as many had believed.

With this long-standing misunderstanding finally resolved, attention now turns to whether romance will blossom between Gangcheori and Yeo Ri.

Riding the wave of its growing popularity, the drama now enters its second act. Director Yoon Sung Sik recently shared key moments to look out for in the episodes to come, heightening anticipation among fans.

“The second act will kick off in full swing as Gangcheori realizes his feelings for Yeo Ri and the truth about Kim Bong In comes to light,” Yoon said. “Key storylines to watch include how the love-hate romance between Gangcheori and Yeo Ri develops, whether their unusual alliance with Lee Jeong can succeed against the Eight Feet Tall spirit, the fate of Yoon Gap’s spirit—whom Yeo Ri still longs for—and what happens to Gangcheori, who now inhabits Yoon Gap’s body.”
