Park Bo Gum Is A Former Athlete Turned Troublemaker Police Officer In New Drama “Good Boy”
JTBC’s upcoming drama “Good Boy” has unveiled new stills featuring Park Bo Gum!
“Good Boy” is a comic action drama that follows a group of former national athletes Yoon Dong Joo (Park Bo Gum), Ji Han Na (Kim So Hyun), Kim Jong Hyun (Lee Sang Yi), Go Man Sik (Heo Sung Tae), and Shin Jae Hong (Tae Won Suk)—who become police officers through a special recruitment program. Swapping medals for badges, they take on a world full of corruption, deception, and injustice.
The newly released photos show Yoon Dong Joo’s journey from national team boxer to troublemaking police officer. Once at the peak of his career with a gold medal around his neck, Yoon Dong Joo has now hit rock bottom. The central question is whether he can rise again to become the true “Good Boy” of the elite special task force fighting crime.
Following his mother’s last words, “Live up to your name without shame,” Yoon Dong Joo was once celebrated by the public. In his prime as a boxing gold medalist, he proudly wore the Korean flag on his chest, stepped into the ring to enjoy victory, and stood confidently before the press, adorned with a flower garland.
But now, Yoon Dong Joo is known as “Ddong Joo” at the police station—a nickname meaning “Poop Joo.” His name no longer carries honor. After joining the force through a special recruitment program, his strong punches, fighting skills, and animal-like instincts—qualities his coworkers had hoped would help—have instead led to a string of accidents. The bruises on his face never seem to fade, symbolizing “troublemaker Yoon Dong Joo.” Unlike before, he now appears clumsy, is often left out of missions, faces disciplinary action, and has been demoted.
Park Bo Gum remarked, “He may seem like a simple bulldozer who only uses his fists, but inside, he has a strong sense of justice and lives by the famous saying of boxer Muhammad Ali: ‘Impossible is nothing.’”
As Yoon Dong Joo prepares for a dramatic comeback, aiming for a golden victory once again in real life, the production team teased, “There’s a painful reason why he can’t use his fists properly and keeps getting into trouble since becoming a police officer. With Park Bo Gum’s transformation and powerful performance, please look forward to the ups and downs of Yoon Dong Joo’s life. The exciting twists will make you forget the summer heat.”
“Good Boy” is set to premiere on May 31 at 10:40 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser here!
