Watch: Yoon Hyun Soo, Lee Jung Sic, Choi Woo Sung, And More Compete In A Ruthless Student Council Election In “I Am A Running Mate”
TVING’s original drama “I Am a Running Mate” has unveiled its main poster and trailer!
Directed by Oscar-winning “Parasite” co-writer Han Jin Won in his directorial debut, “I Am a Running Mate” is a teen political drama that follows Noh Se Hoon (Yoon Hyun Soo), a student who becomes a laughingstock of his school after an unfortunate incident. However, his life takes a sharp turn when he’s suddenly nominated as a candidate for vice president in the student council election. Thrust into a whirlwind of cutthroat strategies and power plays, Noh Se Hoon is determined to reclaim his dignity and seize victory.
The newly released poster and trailer offer a glimpse into the unpredictable and high-stakes election race. The poster, captioned “A high school election war more intense than college entrance exams,” features two rival camps facing off with fierce determination.
On one side, Kwak Sang Hyun (Lee Jung Sic), Noh Se Hoon, and Yoon Jung Hee (Hong Hwa Yeon) don blue ties. On the opposing side, Yang Won Dae (Choi Woo Sung), Park Ji Hoon (Lee Bong Joon), and Ha Yoo Kyung (Kim Ji Woo) wear red ties. Each character enters the election armed with their own motives—leaving viewers wondering what their secret weapons for victory might be.
The trailer gives a sneak peek into the rollercoaster month that awaits Se Hoon, who wishes for nothing more than to live an ordinary life—neither part of the in-crowd nor the outcasts. But things spiral when he is unexpectedly chosen as the running mate of the enigmatic and elite candidate Kwak Sang Hyun. Suddenly thrust into the male vice president race, Se Hoon finds himself swept into a campaign steeped in deceit, where only the maddest win—and winners write the rules.
Sang Hyun’s chilling words—“Stop running your mouth and actually do something”—shatter his signature friendly smile, adding tension to the drama. The fiery clash between Sang Hyun’s camp and the passionate campaign led by his rival Yang Won Dae hints at a student council election fiercer than any academic exam.
The trailer’s closing lines—“Did I commit murder? Did I scam someone?” and “If we win, none of that matters”—highlight the inner conflicts of students whose lives are upended by the election, sparking curiosity about how their intense battles will end. From top student Yoon Jung Hee, running as the female vice president with Sang Hyun, to Yang Won Dae’s dynamic running mates—school socialite Park Ji Hoon and school beauty Ha Yoo Kyung—the growing hostility between both camps amps up the suspense.
