5 Moments In Episodes 5–6 Of 'Second Shot At Love' That Had Us Squealing

Second Shot at Love” is finally giving viewers what we wanted from the beginning: butterflies in the stomach. Both couples are finally opening up to each other, giving us the sweetest, fluffiest romantic moments. From Ui Jun (Gong Myoung) and Geum Ju’s (Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung) cute late-night jog, to Hyeon Ju (Jo Yoon Hee) and Seon Uk’s (Kang Hyung Suk) first proper kiss, here are five times we giggled during the latest episodes of “Second Shot at Love.”

Warning: spoilers for Episodes 5–6 ahead!

Booze hour

According to Ui Jun, the hardest part of quitting alcohol isn’t the cravings. It’s the “booze hour,” that quiet stretch in the evening when everyone’s cracking open a cold one and the temptation is at its peak. Geum Ju sums up his sentiments perfectly with, “Our country is heaven when you’re drinking, but hell when you’re trying to quit.”

In episodes five and six, we see Ui Jun helping Geum Ju with this exact challenge by calling her for a spontaneous late-night jog. Thank goodness he did because this scene gave us so many heart-fluttering moments.

From Geum Ju pretending to be injured just to win their bet and get him to pay for her convenience store snack, to Ui Jun zipping up her jumper like the softest drama lead ever, the chemistry was off the charts. The cherry on top? He opens her can of water for her. Ridiculous? Maybe. Adorable? Absolutely. Every glance and gesture during this moonlit jog felt like a fanfiction come to life.

Permission to concert

Seon Uk has been holding onto his feelings for Hyeon Ju for years. The last time he tried to confess, he showed up with a whole bouquet, only to find out she was getting married. Fast forward to the present: he goes all out to snag tickets to her favorite musician’s concert, but just as he’s about to succeed, his brother-in-law swoops in and takes them right out of his hands.

Just when it seems all hope is lost, fate steps in. Not only does Seon Uk get the tickets back, but his sister asks him to take Hyeon Ju because she’s not feeling well. The stars align. It’s the most unexpected, serendipitous win, and Seon Uk’s joy is so contagious that viewers were squealing right along with him.

Defending Hyeon Ju

Back in earlier episodes, there were whispers that Hyeon Ju used to be the “idol of Bochun” — beautiful, bright, and admired by all. But time hasn’t been kind. In the recent episodes, the sting hits harder when one of her former colleagues visits Bochun and casually tells her husband that she didn’t even recognize Hyeon Ju, mistaking her for a helper because she looked so worn down.

But the drama serves sweet, sweet vindication. When Hyeon Ju and Seon Uk bump into the same couple at the concert, she doesn’t hesitate to flip the narrative. With confidence, she introduces Seon Uk as her boyfriend, adding that he’s never been married and is five years younger than her. The best part? The smug couple actually buys it, walking away stunned that Hyeon Ju’s life might be a lot better than they assumed.

Seon Uk and Hyeon Ju’s first kiss

Is it just me, or is the second couple stealing the whole show? While Geum Ju and Ui Jun are only just warming up after years of awkward distance, Hyeon Ju and Seon Uk are speeding ahead, and I’m not complaining. In the latest episode, the two share their first kiss, and it’s everything.

After their five-minute fake dating stunt, Hyeon Ju leaves the venue before the concert starts, feeling deflated, and heads off to drink alone. Seon Uk finds her and gently reminds her, “You’re still the star of Bochun.” Cue the butterflies. Hyeon Ju kisses him on the cheek in a soft, unexpected moment, which quickly turns into a full-on kiss that had the audience twirling their hair and kicking their feet in excitement.

“Because I liked you so much”

For years, Geum Ju has lived with the sting of unanswered questions. Why did Ui Jun suddenly cut her off? What happened to their friendship? In the recent episodes, she finally gets her answer. After staying sober for a full week, Ui Jun offers to grant her one wish. Instead of asking for money, as she jokingly threatened before, she simply asks him why they fell apart. Without missing a beat, Ui Jun says the words we’ve all been waiting for: “Because I liked you so much.”

Though the truth is heartbreaking, it’s also a turning point. Geum Ju finally understands that her love wasn’t one-sided after all. Now, all that’s left is for Ui Jun to realize the same. His feelings are still returned.

Is it really necessary for every week of happiness to be followed by a dose of heartbreak? Just as Geum Ju begins to process her resurfacing feelings and the revelation that Ui Jun once loved her, another wave crashes down. She finds out that Ui Jun knew all along about her cheating ex-husband. Now, instead of seeing his kindness as love, she starts to wonder if it’s just pity. It’s a painful blow, especially after such an emotionally vulnerable moment between them. And from the looks of it, the next episode promises yet another misunderstanding to untangle.
