Lee Sung Min And Kang Ha Neul In Talks To Star In “Ode To My Father” Sequel
Lee Sung Min and Kang Ha Neul may be starring together in “Ode to My Father 2”!
On June 5, EDaily reported that director Yoon Je Kyun has confirmed production for “Ode to My Father 2,” with Lee Sung Min and Kang Ha Neul cast in the lead roles. According to the report, just like the original 2014 film, the sequel will be directed by Yoon Je Kyun, produced by JK Film, and distributed by CJ ENM.
In response to the report, a representative from CJ ENM stated, “We are positively reviewing the production of ‘Ode to My Father 2.'”
A JK Film representative also shared, “The script is complete and is currently being revised. We’re checking the schedules of Lee Sung Min, Kang Ha Neul, and other potential cast members. The film will have a tone similar to the original ‘Ode to My Father.’”
“Ode to My Father 2” is the sequel to the 2014 hit film that followed the life of Deok Soo (Hwang Jung Min), who lived through Korea’s post-war era and turbulent modern history.
The sequel will reportedly center on Seong Min, a fellow miner who was dispatched to Germany alongside Deok Soo, and Seong Min’s son Se Joo.
Lee Sung Min has been offered the role of Seong Min, a stoic yet deeply devoted father who sacrifices everything for his family. Kang Ha Neul is in talks to play Se Joo, Seong Min’s youngest son who experiences a personal awakening after becoming involved in Korea’s democratization movement while studying at Seoul National University.
If confirmed, this would mark Lee Sung Min and Kang Ha Neul’s first on-screen reunion in 11 years since their acclaimed 2014 drama “Misaeng: Incomplete Life.”
“Ode to My Father 2” is reportedly aiming for a theatrical release next year. Stay tuned for more updates!
