On June 10, the agency released a statement confirming that it has filed criminal complaints against individuals involved in spreading false information, slander, and defamatory posts about YoonA. The agency also emphasized its commitment to taking strong legal action without leniency or settlements.
The agency’s full statement is as follows:
Hello,
This is SM Entertainment. We would like to provide an update regarding the legal action we are taking in response to rights violations involving our artist YoonA.
Through reports submitted by fans via KWANGYA 119, as well as our own continuous monitoring, we have identified numerous posts spreading false information, malicious slander, and defamatory content about YoonA. As a result, we have already filed criminal complaints and requested cooperation from the investigative authorities.
We are taking all possible legal measures—both civil and criminal—not only against posts that directly use the artist’s real name but also against those that use initials, nicknames, or other suggestive identifiers intended to imply her identity. These actions will be pursued without leniency or settlement.
Creating or spreading unverified rumors, as well as posting malicious content such as defamatory text or videos, constitutes a clear illegal act. We urge everyone to refrain from making or distributing such harmful content and to exercise caution to avoid involvement in any unlawful activity.
We will remain committed to doing our utmost to protect the rights and interests of our artists.
Thank you.
