Lee Min Ho Transforms Into A Novel Protagonist With A Regression Ability In New Film “Omniscient Reader”
Upcoming film “Omniscient Reader” has unveiled the first glimpse of Lee Min Ho’s character!
Based on the popular web novel of the same name, “Omniscient Reader” will tell the story of Kim Dok Ja (Ahn Hyo Seop), who suddenly finds himself living in the world of a fantasy novel he was reading. Armed with the knowledge of what happened in the novel, Kim Dok Ja sets out to save the world from ending. Lee Min Ho stars as Yoo Joong Hyuk, the protagonist from the novel that Kim Dok Ja read.
Yoo Joong Hyuk, the central figure in the novel “Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World,” possesses overwhelming strength and resilience, able to clear every scenario thanks to a regression ability that allows him to start over from the beginning each time he dies. From the moment he appears, his commanding presence and striking visuals capture the screen. As he repeats countless regressions, he draws the audience in with a complex emotional journey and intense action sequences.
Although Yoo Joong Hyuk has cleared endless scenarios, the experiences have left him hardened and deeply cynical. That begins to change when he meets Kim Dok Ja—a man who disrupts the storyline Yoo Joong Hyuk thought he knew. When Kim Dok Ja reaches out and asks to team up, Yoo Joong Hyuk, who doesn’t easily trust others, puts him through yet another test.
As the only reader who has admired Yoo Joong Hyuk for more than 10 years, Kim Dok Ja’s growing connection with him—and the ending they create together—has sparked strong anticipation among audiences.
Lee Min Ho shared his thoughts on the role, saying, “I spent a lot of time thinking about the loneliness of a man who survives alone in an immortal life. Because the character is constantly fighting, I also put a lot of effort into preparing for the action scenes.”
He added, “I had to show this universe through Yoo Joong Hyuk, and I felt that if it didn’t feel real, the process of Dok Ja entering this worldview and overcoming the crisis wouldn’t be convincing.” His comments revealed the thoughtful approach he took to bring the story’s central character to life.
He also said, “I spent a lot of time thinking about how to make everything feel real—whether it was the action, my eyes, or facial expressions—without overdoing it.” His words reflect the effort he put into delivering a grounded and focused performance.
“Omniscient Reader” will premiere in July. While waiting, watch a teaser here!
