3 Points To Look Forward To In The Final 2 Episodes Of “Second Shot At Love”
tvN’s “Second Shot at Love” is heading toward its conclusion!
“Second Shot at Love” is a rom-com that follows Han Geum Ju (Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung), a self-proclaimed “reasonable drinker” who unexpectedly reunites with her first love Seo Ui Jun (Gong Myoung)—a man who despises alcohol—and decides to take on the challenge of quitting drinking.
With only two episodes left, here are three key points to look forward to in the series finale:
How Seo Ui Jun will overcome his trauma
The first key point to watch is whether Seo Ui Jun will be able to overcome the trauma left by his alcoholic father. While working at a large hospital in Seoul, Seo Ui Jun experienced a traumatic incident when his father, suffering from alcoholism, came to the hospital and caused a violent disturbance. During the incident, a nurse he worked with collapsed, hit her head, and was rushed to emergency care, but she ultimately passed away.
Although the assailant was Seo Ui Jun’s father—not Seo Ui Jun himself—rumors spread that “a doctor’s father killed a nurse,” and Seo Ui Jun became the subject of cold stares both inside and outside the hospital. Eventually, he left and returned to his hometown Bocheon.
To make matters worse, his father—who had left him with such deep trauma—disappeared after being released from prison. The fear that he might reappear at any time and harm those around him has weighed heavily on Seo Ui Jun’s heart. Viewers are curious whether he can heal from this long-standing pain and anxiety through the warmth and love of his girlfriend Han Geum Ju.
The bittersweet romance between Han Hyun Joo and Bong Seon Uk
Another point of interest is the bittersweet romance between Han Geum Ju’s older sister Han Hyun Joo (Jo Yoon Hee) and Han Geum Ju’s friend, Bong Seon Uk (Kang Hyung Suk). The two were expected to become Bocheon’s second official couple, following Geum Ju and Ui Jun. Hyun Joo, who had distanced herself from romance while raising twins on her own, has slowly begun opening her heart to Bong Seon Uk, a younger man who approaches her boldly with genuine affection.
However, complications surrounding Hyun Joo have put the brakes on their relationship. After her mother Kim Gwang Ok (Kim Sung Ryung) was suddenly hospitalized, Hyun Joo was overcome with guilt and began pushing Seon Uk away by acting coldly toward him.
Things worsened with a conflict involving her close friend Bong Seon Hwa (Kim Bo Jeong), who also happens to be Bong Seon Uk’s older sister. When Seon Uk visited Hyun Joo while drunk, she revealed her true feelings. Seon Hwa, who witnessed the scene, was unable to hide her anger. Feeling torn, Hyun Joo ultimately decided to let Seon Uk go for the sake of Seon Hwa, even if it meant setting aside her own pain. Viewers’ attention is focused on whether these two can overcome their obstacles and find their way back to each other.
Geum Ju and her alcoholic family members’ journey to sobriety
Other elements to keep an eye on include whether Han Geum Ju, her father Han Jung Soo (Kim Sang Ho), and her sister Han Hyun Joo will successfully complete their sobriety challenge and what kind of ending awaits Han Geum Ju and Seo Ui Jun’s romance, which finally blossomed into mutual love after more than a decade.
The next episode of “Second Shot at Love” airs on June 16 at 8:50 p.m. KST.
