Lee Byung Hun In Talks To Star In “The Glory” Director’s Korean Remake Of "The Americans"
Lee Byung Hun may be making his return to the spy genre in an upcoming Korean remake of “The Americans”!
On June 24, ize reported that Lee Byung Hun is currently in the final stages of discussions to star in “Koreans” (working title).
In response, his agency BH Entertainment shared, “Nothing has been finalized yet. It’s true that he received the offer and is positively reviewing it.”
“Koreans” is a spy drama that reimagines the popular American series “The Americans,” this time set against the backdrop of a divided Korea.
The original series, which aired from 2013 to 2018 over six seasons, followed two deep-cover spies posing as a married couple in the United States during the Cold War.
Given that Lee Byung Hun previously headlined the legendary 2009 Korean spy drama “Iris,” his possible return to the genre is already generating excitement.
Adding to the anticipation is the fact that “Koreans” will be helmed by Ahn Gil Ho, the director behind the globally praised “The Glory.”
With its large-scale budget, the series is reportedly in talks with major global streaming platforms, though the broadcast partner has yet to be confirmed.
