“Idol Star Athletics Championships” (ISAC) Confirmed To Return For Chuseok 2025
MBC’s “Idol Star Athletics Championships” (ISAC) is making a highly-anticipated comeback!
On July 2, a broadcast industry source reported that MBC decided to air a Chuseok special of ISAC and is in the final stages of preparation. The newly formed production team has reportedly scheduled filming for late August and is currently casting participants.
In response to the report, an MBC representative confirmed, “It’s true that we are preparing a Chuseok special of ISAC,” but noted that details such as the filming schedule and cast are still being discussed. The upcoming edition is expected to air during the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holiday in early October.
ISAC is a special program where K-pop idol compete in a variety of sports in fair and friendly competition. It first aired as a Chuseok special in 2010 and has since become one of MBC’s signature holiday programs, typically broadcast during the Chuseok and Lunar New Year holidays.
ISAC was held annually until 2020, but production slowed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program returned as a Chuseok special in 2022 and again last year. With K-pop’s global popularity continuing to rise, MBC is reportedly planning to keep the show going.
To reflect fan feedback, the network is also considering diversifying the range of events. Last year’s Chuseok special introduced dancesport and breaking (breakdancing) as new categories, both of which were well received.
Are you excited to see ISAC return to air? Stay tuned for further updates!
