Kim Min Kyu And Choi Yoon Ji Bloom Into Each Other’s Lives In The Countryside In “Love, Take Two”
“Love, Take Two” has released new stills of Choi Yoon Ji and Kim Min Kyu that are sure to evoke memories of first love!
“Love, Take Two” is a heartwarming comedy drama about a mismatched duo: a 43-year-old single mother and her 23-year-old medical student daughter. The pair moves to the countryside to start a new chapter in their lives, encountering various people and chaotic situations that teach them profound lessons about life.
Choi Yoon Ji plays Lee Hyo Ri, a once exemplary medical student who has strayed off course and become a rebellious wanderer. Kim Min Kyu plays Ryu Bo Hyun, a charming young farmer who runs a flower farm. Hyo Ri is the daughter of Lee Ji An (Yum Jung Ah), while Bo Hyun is the son of Ryu Jung Seok (Park Hae Joon).
The newly unveiled photos showcase their refreshing and youthful chemistry. In one still, Hyo Ri is seen in her white doctor’s coat bearing a prestigious university’s logo. Though she has followed her mother’s wish and walked the path her mother set for her, her expression is weary and listless, as if she has lost all her drive. Outside the hospital, however, her entire aura changes. Having set out to find the “happiness” she had long forgotten, viewers are left curious about her journey as a wandering youth.
Meanwhile, Bo Hyun appears with an armful of flowers, looking as radiant as the blooms he carries. His greenhouse radiates the expertise he’s gained from six years of running the farm. Though he shares his father’s stoic demeanor, he can never turn down a request from the villagers, revealing his warm-hearted charm beneath his tough exterior. A veteran at growing all kinds of flowers, Bo Hyun finds entirely new emotions blooming within him when Hyo Ri suddenly parks her camper van in front of his house.
Choi Yoon Ji shared, “I remember being overwhelmed with emotion the moment I read Hyo Ri’s lines in my first audition for ‘Love, Take Two.’ Just from that one scene, I knew I really wanted to play this character.” She added, “While preparing for the next audition, I talked a lot with my own mother. The honest feelings we share as mother and daughter helped me immensely.”
She continued, “Hyo Ri doesn’t easily express her emotions, so I thought her subtle nonverbal cues like silence and gaze were more important than lines. My biggest challenge was figuring out how to portray the gap between her exterior and inner feelings,” adding, “I didn’t think of Hyo Ri as defensive but rather as someone who knows too much. Even in her cold tone, I felt there was a hidden desperation.”
Kim Min Kyu shared, “Before auditioning, I was rewatching ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ for the nth time. I’ve always loved director Yoo Je Won’s works, so I thought of this as a huge opportunity and gave it my all. I went in determined to do everything I could without regrets.” He added, “Above all, I’ve always wanted to be part of a drama that felt warm and human, so I’m happy to have joined ‘Love, Take Two.’”
Describing his character Bo Hyun, he said, “He’s perfect on the outside but has an unexpectedly clumsy side, which is his charm. Bo Hyun becomes a reliable tree for Hyo Ri, but he also carries hidden wounds, and meeting her helps him grow as a person.”
“Love, Take Two” will premiere on August 4 at 8:50 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!
