Lee Joon Gi In Talks To Star In New Historical Comedy Action Drama

Lee Joon Gi may soon be taking on the role of a Joseon-era detective in a new drama!

On July 23, MyDaily reported that Lee Joon Gi has been cast as the lead in the upcoming drama “Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency” (literal title).

In response, a representative from his agency Namoo Actors stated, “It is a project he is currently reviewing.”

“Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency” is a comedic investigation action drama about a king who chases after cases and a rookie royal inspector who chases after the king. The story follows King Hyejong, a master detective who can get whatever he wishes with a flick of his hand and embodies the ultimate royal “flex,” and Lee Seo, a rookie inspector who learned everything—from romance to social skills—from books, but whose memory is unmatched.

Lee Joon Gi has reportedly been offered the role of King Hyejong, a boastful and sharp-tongued ruler known as the ultimate authority in the peaceful Joseon era who spends his days investigating cases. He is known for blatantly insulting people to their faces, with relentless sarcasm that cuts as sharply as a blade.

If confirmed, this will mark Lee Joon Gi’s first drama comeback in three years since tvN’s “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun” in 2023.
