Watch: STAYC's Sumin Calls The Main Vocalist Of A Rookie Girl Group Her Bias On "The King Of Mask Singer"
On the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” STAYC’s Sumin revealed that she was a fan of the one of the masked singers!
During the August 3 episode of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants stepped up to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.
In the first match-up of Round 1, “Phone Decorating” and “Bag Decorating” faced off with a duet version of Ailee’s hit ballad “I Will Go to You Like the First Snow” (from the soundtrack of the popular drama “Goblin”).

After watching their performance, multiple celebrity panelists speculated that “Bag Decorating” was an idol. Park Seul Gi also specifically guessed that “Bag Decorating” might hail from either Japan or the United States based on her accent. When asked which one she considered more likely, Park Seul Gi said she was leaning towards Japan “7 to 3.”
Although Bag Decorating earned praise for her beautiful vocal tone, she ultimately lost the round to her opponent. She then performed a charming rendition of Younha’s “486,” taking off her mask halfway through to reveal that she was Minami, the main vocalist of the rookie girl group RESCENE and a former contestant on the survival show “My Teenage Girl.” Just as Park Seul Gi had guessed, Minami was born and raised in Japan.
As soon as Minami took off her mask, celebrity panelist Sumin excitedly turned to her bandmate Sieun and exclaimed, “She’s my bias!”
When asked about her goals for the future, Minami said with a smile, “My mom always told me to dream big. It’s only been a year and a half since RESCENE debuted, so I hope that we can perform in front of many more people and become known as a ‘trusted singer.’ Please look forward to us.”
