Gong Myoung Gets Caught Up In Shin Eun Soo’s Confession Mission In New Film “Love Untangled”

Netflix’s highly anticipated film “Love Untangled” has unveiled new stills!

Set in 1998 Busan, “Love Untangled” follows 19-year-old Park Se Ri (Shin Eun Soo), who sets out on a mission to fix her lifelong insecurity—her curly hair—before finally confessing her feelings to her crush. Along the way, she gets entangled with Han Yoon Seok (Gong Myoung), a transfer student from Seoul.

The newly released stills capture the refreshing chemistry and youthful charm of Gong Myoung and Shin Eun Soo as they transform into two teenagers from the late ’90s. Before even setting foot in his new school, Yoon Seok crosses paths with Se Ri by chance, forming a surprising connection that lands him right in the middle of her “grand confession mission.”

As Yoon Seok spends more time with Se Ri and her group of friends, he gradually begins to open up—raising curiosity about how this shift will shape his character. One particularly sweet still shows Yoon Seok smiling with a camera in hand during a school trip, his warm gaze leaving viewers wondering who—or what—he’s looking at.

Se Ri, a self-proclaimed expert in one-sided love and confessions, considers her naturally curly hair—passed down from her dad—her greatest life struggle. Whether by coincidence or fate, her crushes and confessions always seem to go off track, much like her tangled curls. Despite this, she falls head over heels at first sight for the school’s most popular boy Kim Hyun (Cha Woo Min), and enlists her friends to help launch her most ambitious “confession operation” yet.

With her one-sided love radar always on, Se Ri hides in corners of the schoolyard, behind utility poles, and more—watching her crush with sparkling, love-filled eyes, proving her status as a veteran of secret crushes. As she prepares for what may be her final, grand confession before graduation, viewers are left wondering: can Se Ri finally break her streak of failed attempts and earn her happy ending?

Gong Myoung shared, “Yoon Seok is the most youthful character I’ve ever played. I really thought hard about how to portray his gradual transformation as he adjusts to his new school and starts blending in with his peers.”

Shin Eun Soo added, “Out of all the roles I’ve played, Se Ri has the strongest and brightest energy—she’s the most similar to how I am when I’m with my own friends. Taking on a high-energy role like this is exciting because I get to show a different side of myself.”

Director Namkoong Sun praised both actors, saying, “Gong Myoung has an almost unbelievably pure and wholesome energy. On set, he’s always dependable, but when he’s acting as Yoon Seok, he transforms into a sensitive and soft-hearted boy. No matter how tough things got, he always bounced back like a spring—his energy was truly remarkable.”

She also complimented Shin Eun Soo, saying, “She has a real gift for expressing emotion with her entire body. I was especially impressed by how thoroughly she prepared for each scene. Se Ri became explosively lovable the moment she met Shin Eun Soo.”

“Love Untangled” will premiere on August 29.
