TVING Apologizes For Leak Of "The Defects" Finale
TVING has issued an apology regarding the broadcast error of the ENA drama “The Defects.”
On August 5, Korean OTT platform TVING mistakenly uploaded the final episode (episode 8) instead of episode 6 as scheduled.
The incorrect episode was available for about 20 minutes, during which some viewers were unintentionally exposed to spoilers and expressed their frustration. The correct episode 6 has since been uploaded.
The following day, on August 6, a representative from TVING issued an apology for the mistake, stating, “During the video upload process of ‘The Defects’ on August 5, an error in metadata matching caused episode 8 to be temporarily made available instead of episode 6. We sincerely apologize for causing confusion to viewers.”
The representative added, “TVING is taking this issue very seriously and is working closely with the broadcaster and production company to thoroughly discuss countermeasures to prevent similar incidents in the future. In addition, we will use this incident as an opportunity to strengthen our internal system checks and management protocols to ensure this does not happen again.”
Based on a popular webtoon, ENA’s “The Defects” is a new action thriller about children who were abandoned by their adoptive parents—and their fight for survival and revenge. The cast includes Yum Jung Ah, Won Jin Ah, Choi Young Joon, Dex, and Lee Naeun, and the series is set to conclude on August 12.
The next episode of “The Defects” airs on August 11 at 10 p.m. KST!
