Park Min Young Transforms Into A Charismatic Con Artist In New Drama “Confidence Queen”
The upcoming drama “Confidence Queen” has unveiled new stills featuring its main lead Park Min Young!
A Korean adaptation of the 2018 Japanese comedy drama “The Confidence Man JP,” “Confidence Queen” follows three con artists with extraordinary talents as they pull off elaborate scams targeting villains from all walks of life. Park Min Young stars as Yoon Yi Rang, a con artist with an IQ of 165 and a genius-level intellect in the top 1 percent. With her eccentric thinking and cold charisma, she leads the team in their intricate schemes.
In the newly released stills, Yi Rang is seen at a coin laundromat, appearing deep in thought as she strategizes her next move. Her intense gaze and composed expression hint at a calculating mind.
In one still, her slightly tilted head reflects the burden of leadership and the weight of her decisions, while in another, her bold-patterned mini dress and boxy leather jacket exude style and confidence.
Explaining why she chose to take on the role, Park Min Young shared, “When I read the script, it made sense to me why Yi Rang had to become a sociopath.” As for similarities between herself and her character, she added, “Yi Rang might seem like she does things impulsively, but she actually plans everything thoroughly, including plans B and C. I saw that part of myself in her. But I’m not as crazy as Yi Rang.”
The production team praised Park Min Young’s performance, saying, “As filming went on, we couldn’t imagine anyone other than Park Min Young playing Yoon Yi Rang,” and added, “Make sure to catch her brilliant performance in ‘Confidence Queen,’ where she even masters the caper genre.”
“Confidence Queen” is set to premiere on September 6 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
