Go Hyun Jung Talks About Her Decision To Star In Upcoming Drama 'Queen Mantis'

Go Hyun Jung has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “Queen Mantis”!

A remake of the French series “La Mante,” “Queen Mantis” is a crime thriller starring Go Hyun Jung as Jung Yi Shin, a famous serial killer nicknamed “The Mantis” who brutally murdered five men 20 years ago and has been imprisoned ever since. When a new serial killer emerges, copying The Mantis’s distinctive style, the police approach Jung Yi Shin for her assistance in solving the case. Jang Dong Yoon plays detective Cha Soo Yeol, who must work alongside his mother Jung Yi Shin, whom he has despised his entire life.

When asked why she chose to appear in the drama, Go Hyun Jung said, “The project itself was very appealing. Once I got drawn into the intriguing story that unfolds in each episode, I lost track of time.”

She added, “Writer Lee Young Jong’s tightly woven narrative was very immersive, and I was curious to see what kind of synergy would emerge when combined with director Byun Young Joo’s skill in bringing it to life on screen.”

Go Hyun Jung went on to emphasize, “As an actress, I have always wanted to participate in good projects, so I decided to appear in ‘Queen Mantis’ with joy and without hesitation.”

Go Hyun Jung also expressed great satisfaction with her experience working together with Byun Young Joo, remarking, “Director Byun Young Joo perfectly balances strong leadership with her unique wit.”

She continued, “Her extensive experience translated into precise direction, resulting in a more polished final product. Her charisma, which guided the entire set, also served as moral support for the ‘Queen Mantis’ team. At the end of filming, she made us laugh with her humor. I gained positive energy from the director, which further motivated me to give my all during the filming.”

“Queen Mantis” premieres on September 5 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
