2006-03-21

Singer "K," a rising star in "J-POP," has successfully wrapped up a recent concert tour of six Japanese cities, with tickets for all of his concerts sold out.

K gave performances in six Japanese cities–Sendai, Sapporo, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka–from Mar. 10 to 20.

An official from K’s agency, DuriStar, said on Mar. 21, "All of K’s performances have been sold out, surprising Japanese pop musicians. His Japanese fans showed such a rave response to K’s concert that we already decided to plan an encore concert while he was still giving performances."

As an expression of his gratitude to his Japanese fans, K will give a total of five rounds of encore performances: two performances in Osaka on Apr. 27, two in Nagoya on Apr. 29, and one at the NHK Hall in Tokyo on May 1.

K began full-fledged activities in Japan in March of last year by releasing his first single album there entitled "OVER…." Since then, he has released a total of four single albums and one full-length album, selling more than one million copies of albums in total.

K has drawn attention from Japanese pop musicians for winning four prizes for his remarkable activities in Japan last year. At the 20th Gold Disk Awards of Japan ceremony held on Mar. 9, he took home the Platinum Award, Gold Disk Award, Best Rookie Singer of the Year Award, and a Special Award for Korean-Japanese Friendship for 2005.

Winding up his concert tour of the six Japanese cities, K will return home on Mar. 21 and immerse himself in activities in Korea for the time being. K is expected to meet his fans by singing his newest song entitled "I Know It When Tears Are Cold," which was written in the wake of the release of his second full-length album in the country. He will sing the song on the MBC TV program "Show! This Is the Center of the Music World" on Mar. 25.
